Volunteer Ministers based at the Church of Scientology’s UK headquarters near East Grinstead have been targeting children in hospitals across the country, photos from the latest Saint Hillier magazine show.
In an article published in the official Scientology magazine, photos show Scientologists in their infamous yellow jackets delivering Christmas gifts to hospitals across the south of England. “Our Saint Hill Lions group organized and led visits to hospitals during the holiday season to bring beautifully wrapped gifts to children for Christmas”, the article states.
“The delight and joy of the parents, nurses and most importantly, the children was captivating. With effusive thanks to our Scientology Volunteer Ministers!”
There is no mention of Scientology’s belief that children are considered effectively adults stuck in little bodies or that those who are ill are considered “Potential Trouble Sources”, with disabled people being classed as “degraded beings” according to L. Ron Hubbard policy.
According to Saint Hillier, Volunteer Ministers delivered 1,190 wrapped gifts to children at 10 hospitals, although it makes no mention of exactly what the gifts were. The hospitals were listed as:
- London Evelina Hospital (400 gifts)
- Redhill East Surrey Hospital (200 gifts)
- Crawley Main Hospital (170 gifts)
- Hastings Conquest Hospital (90 gifts)
- Ashford William Harvey Hospital (60 gifts)
- Brighton Royal Alexandra Hospital (60 gifts)
- Darent Valley Hospital (60 gifts)
- Eastbourne Hospital (60 gifts)
- Epsom Hospital (60 gifts)
- Crawley Emergency Ward (30 gifts)
Although we have no objection to spreading festive cheer and giving presents to those in hospital over the Christmas period, we are more concerned with the concept of un-trained volunteers being given access to vulnerable children and the opportunity to disseminate Hubbard ‘technology’, which teaches we are spiritual beings responsible for everything in our own universe. This means an accident or incident that leaves you critically injured is something you’ve ‘pulled in’ due to past transgressions.
The Volunteer Minister (VM) program is one of Scientology’s many front groups and are known to show up at natural disaster zones and sites of civil unrest in order to hand out ‘The Way to Happiness’ and ‘Truth About Drugs’ booklets under the assumption Hubbard’s ‘technology’ can handle the situation.
VMs were recently seen responding to the fires in Los Angeles, with Scientology claiming they are providing “critical relief” to those affected. However their presence was seen as nothing more than a PR photo opportunity, with one fire victim telling the Underground Bunker “I was so impressed by all the volunteers. Trans, gay, all colors — and all these people coming together to sort these goods, And I got hugged by so many people,” she says. “And then I see these Scientologists come in and get their photo opportunity and then blow. It’s hard to understand.”
