During our visit to Sunderland Org earlier this week Scientology Business was given a copy of the most recent edition of Impact, the official magazine produced by the International Association of Scientologists. The IAS is the official membership organisation of the Church of Scientology, and Impact offers a fascinating insight into the latest internal Scientology news and a glimpse into what it considers significant achievements by its parishioners.
It also lists the latest advancements in membership status – allowing us to see Scientology’s biggest donors, known as ‘whales’. In an article on The Underground Bunker, journalist Tony Ortega explained “We dig Impact because we love whale watching, keeping an eye on Scientology’s biggest donors, those really wealthy members who keep the place running with the huge amounts they fork over to the IAS.”
Historically a new issue of Impact is published shortly after the annual IAS event, meaning we can expect Issue 175 in the coming weeks/months, but for now this offers the most up-to-date snapshot of how Scientology is promoting itself to its members.
Although this edition (Issue 174) does not have a publication date, the copyright statements in the footer of the final page are dated 2023, suggesting it was released earlier this year.
